This youth center is
now equipped to help students in their studies, and everyday life. We
are in an excellent location to serve both the students of Due West and
the students in this community. With this we are providing a place that
is safe and a place were students love to bring friends. It is inviting
as well as exciting.
Driver Education
Due West UMC is partnering with Safe America to provide Driver Education to our students and students in our community. It is now required by law that students complete at least 36 hours of Driver Education. We will continue to hold classes through the summer and begin additional classes in the fall of 2007. Classes will include:
- 36 hour driver education

- Basic Car Maintenance
- Defensive Driving

Car fatalities
are the leading cause of deaths among teens by a huge percentage. We are
developing a center with a driving simulator, teachers to help instruct in safer
driving, and classes to help students understand everything from changing a tire
to maintaining their own car. We hope this could be the start of a trend towards
safer driving.

Tutoring
Our Youth Center is a primary center for tutors to meet
with students. We have enlisted several church members who are willing to
give of their time to help students through a tutoring ministry and they are
also bringing in others who will help tutor students in a wide variety of
subjects. If you are in need of assistance in school work please contact Lynn Ilitzky at 770-427-3835 ext. 238 or at lilitzky@duewest.org.
