 This week is Legacy Night! We will be honoring our 8th graders for our last CrossRoads of this school year. I want to encourage all 8th graders to be a part of this night (even if they have not been recently- I would love for all of them to be here)! We will have a special legacy message, a gift for each of them and a special send off of prayers. Parents are encouraged to attend from 7:15-8:00pm to come for our time honoring them and our prayer circle!

Dear Due West Friends,

Before I get into the Friday Flyer I wanted to write a quick note about the past week’s events.  As many of you have already heard, I will be leaving Due West UMC at the end of this month.  It has been an honor and a blessing to have been a part of the Due West UMC family for ten years.  It has been, and will be an emotional transition for me.  Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.  I will be here for two more weeks, so feel free to contact me or just stop by.

Many of you have also heard that I will be starting classes in the Fall at Asbury Theological Seminary.  I will be doing most of my work online, working towards my Masters in Christian Education.  I have felt the nudge to go back to school for 4-5 years now and I felt the time was right to do that.  About two thirds of the program is online but I will have to go up once a semester for an on-campus class called “intensives”. Usually they are a week long and cover a whole course in that week.  Pretty Intense!

Thanks again to all of you for what you have done and what you will continue to do here at Due West UMC.  I thank God for the opportunities I have had here at Due West, but most importantly for the friends I have made here.  Continue to do God’s work in building His Kingdom right here in West Cobb/Paulding!

I would ask you to pay special attention to the section below on the Summer Activities.  Kimmie will need a ton of help and I am relying on you as parents and volunteers to “Step-Up” and help assure the success of these awesome summer activities.

Refuel (Wednesday Nights) - We will have our Youth Connection time in the Youth Center from 5:30-6:30pm.  This is a great time to grab some food and hang out with friends.  Following the Youth Connection we meet together for our REfuel Bible Study every Wednesday night from 6:30-7:30pm.

HS Graduate Recognition Brunch – The HS Graduation Recognition Brunch is open to High School seniors and their families.  We will meet in the Family Life Center on May 19th at 10:00am and will conclude by 11:30am. An RSVP is required.  Please contact Chris Moss at cmoss@duewest.org or call the church office, ext. 241 to make your reservation.  Parents:  DUE TODAY, please bring in one senior picture and three pictures from your student’s childhood.

 We had a wonderful “Step Up Sunday Night” this week at CrossRoads! We had lots of 5th graders join us and our students stepped up to welcome them! Thank you to all who came out to volunteer and the students that helped!

We will not be meeting this coming Sunday night for CrossRoads to allow the students to spend the day with their mothers, grandmothers and other family. We hope you all enjoy this time with your family! I will be spending time with my mom as well!

Step Up Sunday, May 6^th - This Sunday night at CrossRoads the rising 9^th grade students will be coming to join us to step up and experience a night of High School Youth!  Our other students are “stepping up” to welcome the newcomers!  All youth will have dinner together at 5:30pm in the diner. High School youth will take place at its usual time from 6 -8pm.

 The time has come! This is the week! It’s “Step Up Sunday” with Middle School Youth Ministry! Here is the info one more time:

 This Sunday, May 6th is “Step Up Sunday”. The Middle school youth will be inviting the Rising 6th grade students to come and experience what Sunday Night Youth (aka: CrossRoads) is all about. It is called “Step Up Sunday” because the R6 students will be stepping up into youth ministry but it is also a night for our other students to “Step Up” as leaders and make them feel welcome! I will be giving R6 parents and students information about our Youth Group and a tour of the youth center (Meet in the South Campus Sanctuary at 5:00pm). All students will have dinner at 5:30 in the South Campus Youth Diner. After dinner, our Rising 9th Grade students (8th graders) will stay with High School Youth for the night in the South Campus Sanctuary. Middle School Youth will head over to the Family Life Center- where they will have games, devotion, and small groups until 8:00pm. Students can be picked up at 8:00pm outside of the Family Life Center by the green space field area (in the upper parking lot). The topic for the night will be “MADE- We are the Clay”. This night will be a great night to bridge that gap between elementary school and middle school and high school! Let’s welcome all our new friends with a great night!

 The Summer events registration forms are out! Please check your May Newsletter for all of the Summer Events. They are also at all the information stations around the church and online under the forms section at www.duewestyouth.org . Students are welcome to share these with friends from school! This is a good way for them to fellowship and get to know the other students in the youth!

Night of Worship—April 29 – THIS Sunday, we will have a night of praise and worship for all youth and adults. This Night of Worship will focus on Joy and Praising God. Worship will be from 6:15-7:30 with the Josh Davis Band. After the worship we will have time to fellowship. Feel free to bring family and friends for this special night! This will be our last Night of Worship for the school year so I hope you will make every effort to be there!

Hey all,

This Sunday night we will have our final Night of Worship for this school year! It’s a night for all to come and worship together! Parents, Grandparents, Friends, Neighbors & anyone welcome! Youth will be sharing scripture readings and testimonies with a night full of worship to praise God! The message this year will be focused on “Joy & Praise”. Worship will be led by the Josh Davis band.

Here is the schedule for Sunday Night:

• 5:30-6:00 Youth Dinner ($3) (Youth)
•  6:15-7:30 Worship Service (All)
• 7:30-8:00 Refreshments& Fellowship (All)

If you do not attend with your student(s) pick up will be in the drive through are of the South Campus Sanctuary at 8:00pm.

This Wednesday Night, we will have our regular youth fellowship from 6-7 and bible study from 7-8pm downstairs in the youth center. Confirmation will also meet Wednesday night in the South Campus Sanctuary from 6:30-7:30pm.

Sunday morning we will have Sunday school classes and confirmation at 9:39 in the South Campus Narthex/Sanctuary. The 11:00 Mixed Sunday School class will meet downstairs at their usual time!

CrossRoads- Jesus’ Final Words

Can you believe that summer is fastly approaching? It’s a great time for fellowship for our students! I have attached the summer registration form for our Middle School and High School activities here: Summer 2012 Registration Form! I have also attached a list with the specific details of each event (since there is very limited room on the form itself) here: Middle School Youth Summer 2012 Details. Students are welcome to share these forms with any of their friends before school lets out. Like I always say, the more the merrier! Registration forms will be available through website under the forms section and at all the information tables at each campus of our church. If you are a parent that would like to chaperone (I will need your help! ) you can fill out the same registration form and just write “chaperone” with your name in the name space! It’s going to be a blast and a great way to build new friendships!
