We will not be meeting for our Monday Night Salt-N-Light groups tonight because of the Church’s trip to the Braves Game! We will be attending with the middle school and High School Youth to support our choir as they sing the National Anthem and watch the Bravos bring home a win! Hope to see you all next week at Salt-N-Light as it resumes at its normal time(MS-6pm and HS-7pm) and place (Yogli Mogli)!

WHOO HOO! It’s Summer! I hope you are getting to enjoy all the fun things that Summer brings~ We have a lot of fun things going on here as well with Due West Student Ministries! You can find all the registration forms for these activities on this website under the forms tab ! Tonight kicks off our FIRST Summer Salt and Light Small Groups at Yogli Mogli- These groups will meet each Monday night and are open to ALL Middle Schoolers (Rising 6th-8th) from 6-7pm and ALL High Schoolers (Rising 9th-12TH) from 7-8pm. We also have lots of Missions and Fun outings that you won’t want to miss! Download your attachment, print it, hang it on the fridge and share it with a friend!

All Age/Gender Small Groups will follow the school year schedule and complete on May 22nd. Regular Salt-N-Light groups will take a break for the summer. We will have a New Summer Middle School Salt-N-Light Group on Monday Nights from 6pm-7pm at Yogli Mogli. We will also have a Summer High School Salt-N-Light group on Monday Nights from 7pm-8pm at Yogli Mogli. We will begin these two Summer Small Groups on Monday, June 3rd. R6 students are welcome to join the Middle School Group and R9 students are welcome to join the High School Group!

• Mission- Serving Breakfast & Lunch for Habitat for Humanity~ June 8th
On June 8th, we will be partnering with the Habitat for Humanity Group and providing meals for the team working on the houses! We will be looking for both youth and adult volunteers to spend the morning and early afternoon helping serve the team!
• VBS at Due West UMC~ June 10th-14th
Registration will be held May 1-20th. Stop by the Gathering Room on Sunday mornings to fill out a form, pick a card from our donation board, and purchase items from the VBS store. Please keep in mind when completing forms that we do not promote children to the next grade until August. VBS forms should indicate grade levels for the 2012-2013 school year. We are still looking for both adult and youth volunteers. Volunteers must have finished the 6th grade, love the Lord, enjoy children, and like to have fun.
• Braves Game~ Monday, June 17th
Our Youth will be joining together with our church family to enjoy a night at the Braves Game on Monday, June 17th, 2013 at 7:10pm. We will be cheering for the Braves as they face up against the Mets. Our amazing Sanctuary Choir will be singing the National Anthem at the start of the game! The youth will be meeting beforehand to ride together and grab some food from the Varsity on the way to Turner Field! Tickets are $8.00 and can be purchased for your youth or as a chaperone through Kimmie at 770-427-3835, ext. 241 or ktinney@duewest.org. • Day at Murphy Harpst Children’s Center~ Friday, June 28th
We will be going back for our annual trip to Murphy Harpst to spend a fun summer day playing indoor and outdoor Games, having a cookout, and ice cream sundaes with the kids and teenagers there!
• NEW~ Beach Trip coming this Summer~ July 22-26, 2013!
Our Student Ministries will be taking a NEW Beach Trip this Summer! This will be available to both Middle School and High School students. We will be staying at Laguna Beach Christian Resort Center in Florida. Cost of the trip will be $150 per student. The week will include a guest speaker and worship leader, small groups, team Olympic beach sports, and more! Registration forms are available under the forms section of this website! Register ASAP~ Spaces are filling up very quickly!

Wednesday, April 10, 2013: “Thrifting” for books for Mountain Top Boys Home
(Complete Mission time: 1:30-3:30 pm)
• Meet at the South Campus Youth Center Parking Lot at 1:30 pm.
• We will shop at local thrift shops for books for the boys’ new library that wish to establish.
• We will bring the books back to the youth center and write encouragement (bible verses) in each of the book covers. We will pray for this group over the books we are sending out.
• Pick up will be at 3:30pm.
Thursday, April 11, 2013: Serving Dinner at the Women’s Extension
(Complete Mission time: 6:00-8:30 pm)
• Meet at the South Campus Youth Center Parking Lot at 6:00 pm.
• We will serve dinner for 17-20 ladies living at the Women’s Extension.
• We will eat and enjoy the meal with the ladies.
• We will return for pick up at 8:30pm (students will notify parents if sooner).
Friday, April 12, 2013: BINGO game at Ross Memorial Assisted Living Home
and Visit with Gaines Park Assisted Living Home
(Complete Mission time: 2:30-4:45 pm)
• Meet at the South Campus Youth Center Parking Lot at 2:30 pm.
• We will set up, help lead, and play a couple games of BINGO with the residents at Ross Memorial.
• We will bring prizes for the residents to win with each game played (ex. Big boxes of tissues, jewelry, small hand lotions, etc.)
• We will stop by Gaines Park at 4:00 pm for a short visit with their residents before dinner. We will be delivering cards and sharing a kind word with each of them.
• We will return to the church for pick up at 4:45 pm.

o Rising 6th Graders “Step Up Sunday”
Rising 6th students are invited to attend an event called “Step Up Sunday” on May 12th. The Middle school youth will be inviting the Rising 6th grade students to come and experience what Sunday Night Youth (aka: CrossRoads) is all about. Kimmie will be giving parents and students information about our Student Ministries Group and a tour of the Youth Center. R6 Students and Parents will meet in the South Campus Sanctuary at 5:00pm. R6 students can then stay with Kimmie to have dinner with the youth at 5:30 in the South Campus Youth Diner. After dinner, we will head over to the Family Life Center for a night of youth- where they will have games, devotion, and small groups until 8:00 pm. At CrossRoads, we combine fun games and fellowship with devotions that apply to their lives and what they are facing as middle school students. This will be a great night to bridge that gap between elementary school and middle school. To sign up your rising 6th grader email Kimmie at ktinney@duewest.org.

Due West UMC would like to recognize our High School and College Graduates by featuring them on the Graduate Board that will be displayed in narthex of both the North Campus and Family Life Center from May 12-26th. Biography information sheets may be picked up at the information tables at each our church campuses and on our website at www.duewestyouth.org under the forms section. These forms and a wallet size photo of the graduate are due by May 1st and can be turned in to Kimmie Tinney’s mailbox in Admin 2 or emailed to ktinney@duewest.org.

The High School Graduation Recognition Brunch will take place in the Family Life Center on May 11th from 10:00- 11:30 am. This brunch is open to High School seniors and their families. Spring Confirmation 2013 Information:
We will have a Confirmation Orientation for this year’s Fall Class THIS Sunday, February 17th at 2:00pm in the South Campus Sanctuary. Fall Confirmation classes will begin next Sunday morning, February 24th. Confirmation students will have the option to meet at 9:39 or 11:05 during Sunday School. The Confirmation Sunday Service will be held on May 5th. Confirmation Registration forms can be found at all church information tables and on our website at www.duewestyouth.org under the forms section.
Sign Up Today for Spiritual Life Retreat
The youth will be attending North Georgia’s annual Spiritual Life Retreat March 1st -3rd at Camp Glisson. On this retreat, we will combine with other youth groups from all over the conference! The weekend consists of worship, small group time, outdoor games, adventures, and activities. Register now to reserve one of these limited spots! Registration and Medical forms can be found at all church information tables and on our website at www.duewestyouth.org under the forms section. Medical forms can be notarized by Kimmie Tinney at no charge. All completed forms can be turned into Kimmie, faxed [(770) 427-2886], or turned into Kimmie’s box in Admin 2. FINAL Registration and payment is due THIS Sunday, February 17th.

Local Mission: Sharing His Love
This month our students will be taking part in a local mission reaching out to some of the nursing homes in our community! On Saturday, February 9th our Student Ministries will be decorating Ross Memorial and Shady Grove Assisted Living Homes for Valentine Day. We will also have our student hand deliver Valentine’s Day cards and treats to remind them of the greatest love- God’s love! If you or your student would like to take part in this mission feel free to contact Kimmie Tinney at ktinney@duewest.org or (770)427-3835 ext. 241.

The youth will be attending North Georgia’s annual Spiritual Life Retreat March 1st -3rd at Camp Glisson. On this retreat, we will combine with other youth groups from all over the conference! The weekend consists of worship, small group time, outdoor games, adventures, and activities. Register now to reserve one of these limited spots! Registration and Medical forms can be found at all church information tables and on this website under the forms section. Medical forms can be notarized by Kimmie Tinney at no charge. All completed forms can be turned into Kimmie, faxed [(770) 427-2886], or turned into Kimmie’s box in Admin 2. FINAL Registration and payment is due next Sunday, February 17th.
